Hamish McNinch is a Chartered Engineer and a specialist in Aeronautical and Electrical engineering. McNinch served in the British Army for 37 years, completing a distinguished military career with the Multi-National Force in Baghdad, Iraq under the command of Generals David Petraeus and Ray Odierno. From 2008-2009, Mr McNinch served as Energy Advisor and Programme Coordinator for the Multi-National Force Commanders and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker. In this capacity, he had military oversight for the Electricity Masterplans for the Kurdistan Region and Federal Iraq carried out by Parsons Brinkerhoff and funded by the U.S. Department of State. Mr McNinch led the replacement of export pipelines in the northern Arabian Gulf and the introduction of Single Point Moorings – which together tripled Iraq’s crude export capacity. He has conducted military operations in Brunei, Belize, Democratic Republic of Congo, the Arctic, the Falkland Islands, and Iraq (Operation Provide Comfort and later deployments) as well as large-scale equipment acquisition programmes for the UK Ministry of Defence. Mr McNinch lectures widely on aeronautical failure, consults on sustainable energy projects in Africa, and has written for the Wall Street Journal. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a graduate of Kings College London, The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and The Army Staff College.
