Michael Murphy |
Michael Murphy is Iraq Analyst at CMX, and a specialist in the political economies of the Middle East. Mr Murphy advises international oil companies on commercial strategy, the impact of Iran sanctions, political risk, and market entry in Iraq. Prior to joining CMX in 2010, he served on the Yemen Country Desk at the U.S. Department of State, and in the Office of Arabian Peninsula Affairs overseeing U.S. political and economic relations with the nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council. In 2009, Mr Murphy worked for the Nixon Center's Regional Strategic Studies Program on Middle East and Iranian affairs, where he contributed to The East Moves West, Brookings Institution Press, 2010, and wrote "Gaza in Crisis: Hezbollah's defining moment" Geopolitics of the Middle East, 2008. Mr Murphy received an M.A. in International Economics and Strategic Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
